MyMileageGenie is a Blackberry based app. making it easier for professionals to track time and travel, then export/send this info on for review, analysis, and in some cases reimbursement. Actually, this is the FIRST Blackberry application to automate mileage tracking and reporting in North America. MyMileageGenie uses autonomous GPS technology built right into the Blackberry Smartphone & promises to simplify logging business travel (miles or kilometers) when using a personal vehicle, and eliminate having to fuss with old paper logs or spreadsheets. What we're in need of is someone to truly demo the product and give their expert opinion on pros/cons.
MyFormsGenie is a fantastic tool for Creating Customized Reports on your Blackberry®. This amazing application turns your Blackberry® devices into efficient, universal data collection devices, for taking surveys, filling in forms and performing systematic counts. It even supports the capturing of GPS coordinates in your forms. After creation, templates can be efficiently distributed among as many Blackberry® users as desired through our web based portal, or through Mobile Data Services on BES. It is simple to use, simple to deploy, and easy to get started immediately. It’s ingenious actually. The data you collect can be distributed/exported immediately in CSV (semicolon delimited), .XML or Excel format using Blackberry® E-mail. No BES is required.

I'm sure many of you have been keeping tabs on the recent development/deal between Google and Yahoo... But who really wins? According to a recent Age Age article, Google stands to gain as much as a $1 Billion in revenue. The article suggests (and I agree) that if Google ads are always showing up on Yahoo search results, won't visitors just forget to use Yahoo and go straight to the source? I'm of the mind that less is more, and I gotta tell you, I would almost certainly opt out of the "middle man" and go straight to Google..but that's just me. The thought is that with this deal, Yahoo can focus on its Ad Display side... they are, after all, rolling out their ad server product this year. If the rumors are true, they are going to give Google and Microsoft a run for their money - you recall that Google bought and assimilated Doubleclick into its portfolio, in addition to having their own FREE ad server product (very impressive). Microsoft now owns the ATLAS ad server solution as well as RAPT - a favorite in Media Monetization. From experience I can say that this may well prove to lower costs, increase functionality of "tools", and a offer much cleaner way of monetizing traffic, etc. Cross your fingers.
Check out this great article on www.time.com called "The Platform Wars" - an interesting look into who will be the dominant players online.. Facebook? Microsoft?Google?YouTube? This is going to be fascinating to watch!

Its not often enough that I give "props" to companies going "green"..that's not fault of anyone but me. I guess working in online marketing, my options are a bit more limited to being green in what I do - as opposed to, say, a lumber company. Via an article from StartUpNation.com I read about a great husband & wife team from Bozeman, Montana that is building a very successful 3-D modeling company which caters to architectural firms. Their business is called Sweet Onion Creations. I impressed with their commitment to the environment via recycling, materials management, etc, but they have a fantastic product.Check them out at http://www.sweetonioncreations.com ..
I've been subscribing to Ad Age for a few years, and of my favorite pieces is their "3 Minute Ad Age" - a great way to keep in touch with what's happening in this Marketing and Advertising Industry..they have everything from the latest chat with Michael Eisner, to News Corp.'s Chairman's thoughts on audience fragmentation, to Jet Blue's search for a PR company (remember the man stuck in the bathroom?)..Its quick, its concise, and a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of this industry that we can't get enough of:) I highly recommend you check them out.
